As reported by Sky Germany, Konrad Laimer is set to undergo his medical with Bayern Munich and is expected to join them in the summer on a free transfer.
Once Laimer has passed his medical, the signing of the contract will follow. Clubs from England attempted to hijack the Austrian’s move to Bayern but were unsuccessful. As a result of this, Marcel Sabitzer is free to leave the Rekordmeister in the summer.
Laimer played the full 90 minutes as RB Leipzig drew 1-1 with Bayern Munich in the first game of the new year. The 25-year-old had not played for Leipzig since their 3-0 win against Borussia Dortmund in September.
Laimer will add to Bayern’s midfield ranks which currently includes Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Ryan Gravenberch and Sabitzer. Leipzig have managed without Laimer since September when they experienced an unbeaten run of eight games in the league.
