Here’s what Bayern gaffer Vincent Kompany said in his post-match interview.
Speaking to DAZN after their 4-2 victory over Flamengo, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany reflected on the game.
“In the first 20 minutes, the game’s intensity was ferocious. You are thinking in this heat, will this carry on?
“To be fair we grew into the game and it was a good game for the fans and we are just really happy to go to the next round,” he added.
The Belgian went on to praise Leroy Sané in his last game for Bayern Munich and briefly previewed their upcoming quarter-final clash with PSG.
“[Leroy Sané] showed nothing but respect … my relationship with him will always remain really good and I wish him well.
“We knew this [Sané’s departure] could happen and we are just grateful that he was 100% committed to our cause.
“We will see what we need to do for that game [vs PSG]. The main thing is we have to rest, recover and rebuild our energy,” Kompany said.
