Köln have encountered a snag in their pursuit of the Turkish defender.
Talks between 1.FC Köln and Ajax over Ahmetcan Kaplan are stalling and proving difficult, Sky Germany is aware.
Effzeh is currently withdrawing because negotiations with the Amsterdam club have so far failed to reach a solution.
Ajax wants to sell the 22-year-old and is demanding around €6million which is likely too much for Köln, but they’re not giving up hope.
It’s worth mentioning that Kaplan did reach an agreement in principle with Köln and on a long-term contract, despite stalling negotiations.
Alternatives are now being considered with SC Paderborn’s Calvin Brackelmann listed as one of their potential targets.
A new central defender is imperative for the newly promoted Bundesliga side from the Cathedral City.
