Katie Taylor did it again.
On Saturday, the 11th of July, in front of a fervent crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the boxer from Bray scored a third victory over her career rival in Amanda Serrano.
The victory adds another punctuation mark on one of the more extraordinary legacies in women’s boxing as Taylor, a former Olympic gold medalist from the 2012 Games, is a two-weight world boxing champion, an undisputed champion, and has all three wins in boxing’s first major three-fight rivalry involving two women.
The judges saw a close fight, as one judge Mark Lyson saw a 95-95 draw after 10 x 2-minute rounds. But his scorecard was offset by the scores Nicolas Esnault and Steve Weisfeld posted, as those guys both saw a 97-93 type of win for Taylor.
Here are the scorecards in full:
GIVE ME SPORT saw Taylor as the rightful winner, too, but the punch statistics tell a slightly different story than one clear winner in the headline bout of an all-women’s card that aired on Netflix.

What The Punch Statistics Say
Data shows Amanda Serrano may have had an edge
Punch statistics as tabulated by Netflix indicates a close fight. Serrano, per the data, seemingly dictated the fight with the use of her jab as she almost landed twice as many lead shots as Taylor did. Serrano was also the far busier boxer with 382 shots thrown compared to Taylor’s 231. However, both fighters, coincidentally, landed the exact number of shots by the end of the fight — 70.

Fights aren’t determined by data, though. And the statistics alone don’t tell the full story of Taylor, who showed extraordinary poise, ring craft, and punch selection to out-wit Serrano in the majority of the rounds. It is unclear where Taylor, or Serrano, go from here after fighting one another in a legendary three-fight series. Taylor dominated the rivalry 3-0.
