Karim Benzema agrees to extend Real Madrid contract

L’Équipe are reporting that Karim Benzema (35), whose current deal at Real Madrid expires at the end of the season, is set to extend his contract until 2024.

The contracts of Benzema, Luka Modric, Nacho and Sergio Asensio are all set to expire at the end of the current campaign. Speaking in January, Benzema, who retired from the French national team in December, said that he didn’t know how much longer he would spend at the La Liga side, but added, “I’m making the most of every day at Real Madrid.”

Whilst, Benzema has yet to extend his deal, L’Équipe report that he will do soon. The former Olympique Lyonnais academy product agreed on a new deal with president Florentino Perez just a matter of days ago. The extension, which will run until 2024, is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Benzema will therefore enter into a 15th season with Real Madrid with whom he is now focusing on winning an incredible sixth Champions League title. His side carries a significant 5-2 advantage into the second leg against Liverpool, which takes place at the Bernabeu tonight.
