Julian Nagelsmann hesitant on becoming Germany coach

Kicker reports that Julian Nagelsmann is hesitating on becoming the new national team coach of Germany with inital talks having taken place.

The main issue surrounding the move is the salary of Nagelsmann. The DFB have offered Nagelsmann €4m while his salary at former club Bayern Munich which he is still getting paid is €7m.

To try and address this issue, Nagelsmann’s group have looked at the possibility of severance pay from Bayern but the club are uninterested in the idea. Bayern believe that it is not their problem when it comes to Nagelsmann and the DFB trying to reach an agreement.

If the DFB fail to sign Nagelsmann there are other cheaper options available for them. The two names being reported are former Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal who is open to becoming the new Germany coach, as well as former under-21 coach Stefan Kuntz who is now available having been fired as Turkey coach.
