As reported by AS, Julen Lopetegui has rejected the offer to take over as the new manager at Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad.
Despite the Saudi club offering their number one target a lucrative offer, the Basque manager has ultimately declined and the club will have to continue their search for a manager to replace the sacked Nuno Espírito Santo.
The former Real Madrid and Spain national team boss still wishes to return to management in the Premier League, where he is held in high esteem, and offers may be forthcoming as the season progresses.
The most likely option for the Saudi club now is former River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo.
