Josip Brekalo is likely to push for a move away from VfL Wolfsburg

According to Kicker, Josip Brekalo is likely to push for a move away from VfL Wolfsburg this winter.

The 24-year-old will be absent from training this week and is currently residing in his hometown of Zagreb, Croatia. As per the report, Brekalo called in sick but is also likely to push for a move away from the club at the same time.

This comes as AC Monza are reportedly interested in the winger. One catch about a possible transfer is the player’s wagers. From now until the end of the season, Brekalo is expected to collect €1.5m from VfL. Any potential sale and weekly wages may be considered a lot for someone who has played reserve football so far this season. However, from June onwards, he will be a free agent.

Wolfsburg are currently 12th in the Bundesliga after a rather lacklustre first half of the season. Nico Kovač will be hoping to work with a group of players who are committed to the cause as they seek to climb back up the table.
