Former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has revealed his desire to return to the dugout.
The ‘Special One’ has been out of work since his departure from AS Roma in January, but he has since been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
Mourinho remains a largely adored figure around the world of football and is expected to land a new job sooner rather than later.
“I’m ready to start again,” Mourinho said in an interview with Fabrizio Romano. “I don’t need to rest or think as usually happens – I’m ready.
“I feel strong and good. I’m really ready, but I don’t want to make the wrong choice. I have to be patient. My objective is to start again next summer.”
Rumours have swirled about a potential return to his native Portugal or a sensational comeback to former employers Chelsea and Manchester United. However, Mourinho has remained tight-lipped about his next destination.
Mourinho’s last stint with Roma saw him deliver the Europa Conference League trophy, adding to his impressive collection.
While his recent years haven’t always been smooth sailing, his experience, tactical nous and knack for winning trophies remain undeniable.
There’s no doubt clubs will be lining up for his signature, with the question being which project ignites his fire once again.
Mourinho will be looking to make his mark wherever he lands next, reignite his managerial fire and write another chapter in what is undeniably an illustrious career.
