According to L’Équipe, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s position as manager of Nantes could come under threat in the event of a defeat against Toulouse on Sunday afternoon. Nantes have struggled for form recently in Ligue 1 and have found themselves at the threat of relegation.
Ahead of their match against Toulouse, Nantes sit in 14th place just 2 points above the relegation play-off place which is occupied by Metz in 16th. Les Canaris are winless in their last 4 games under Gourvennec including a shock Coupe de France exit to Stade Laval.
Worse since Aristouy’s departure
Jocelyn Gourvennec was appointed as Nantes manager in late November to replace Pierre Aristouy in the dugout at the Stade de la Beaujoire. The former Lille manager was appointed to turn things around at Les Canaris. However, Gourvennec’s start has been statistically worse than Aristouy’s tenure at the club. Gourvennec has managed an average of 0.57 points per match compared to Aristouy who won an average of 1.17 points per match.
