Jarrad Branthwaite has signed a new five-year contract with Everton, committing his future to the club until June 2030.
The 23-year-old centre-back has emerged as a vital figure in the Toffees’ defence and is now set to be part of the club’s next era under David Moyes and new ownership at the soon-to-be-opened Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Talks over an extension began shortly after the end of last season and concluded with Branthwaite putting pen to paper this week.
He described the decision as straightforward, citing the club’s trust, the role he has earned over the past two years, and the ambition being shown on and off the pitch.
Branthwaite made 30 Premier League appearances last season and helped Everton to a strong defensive record in the division, conceding 44 goals.
He was named Everton’s Players’ Player of the Season in 2023/24 and also won the club’s Young Player of the Season award in back-to-back campaigns, securing the fan vote by a wide margin this year.
His performances had attracted interest from clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham, but Everton made clear they had no intention of letting him go.
Branthwaite spoke of the excitement around Everton’s transformation, pointing to the club’s new stadium, new manager, and renewed ambition.
He credited Moyes for a positive impact on the squad and said the team’s improvement late last season played a big role in his decision to stay.
The defender also reflected on his journey since joining from Carlisle in January 2020, including loan spells at Blackburn and PSV Eindhoven, which helped shape his development before breaking into Everton’s first team.

Moyes, who returned to Goodison Park midway through last season, welcomed the contract news and described Branthwaite as central to the club’s long-term plans.
He praised the player’s maturity, consistency and potential, and said the 23-year-old’s best years are still ahead of him.
Branthwaite now looks set to anchor Everton’s backline as they move into a new chapter in their history, with the club targeting a step up in performance and expectations after several years of instability.
With his future now secured, he will be expected to take on even greater responsibility as the team prepares for the 2025/26 campaign.
