Jadon Sancho ‘Refusing to Take Pay Cut’ to Leave Man Utd

Manchester United are facing an uphill battle to find a buyer for Jadon Sancho as the Old Trafford outcast has made it clear that he will not lower his salary expectations despite being open to returning to Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

The Red Devils have already splashed the cash since they ended the 2024/25 campaign without silverware and European qualification, with Matheus Cunha completing a £62.5million switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but head coach Ruben Amorim has been eager to boost his budget by sanctioning departures ahead of next term.

Alejandro Garnacho is among the names that the Portuguese tactician is aiming to offload, following a team meeting bust-up last month, and Manchester United are also determined to get Sancho off their books after his loan move to Premier League rivals Chelsea was not made permanent.

Sancho Not Willing to Lower Wage Demands

Winger providing significant stumbling block for suitors

Sancho is refusing to lower his wage demands to quit Manchester United, according to GMS sources, resulting in it being increasingly likely that his current employers will have to continue paying a portion of his £300,000-per-week salary in order to facilitate a move to Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga heavyweights have been showing interest at a time when the winger has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Red Devils, with him not featuring in Amorim’s future plans, but they are in danger of facing competition from the likes of Aston Villa, AC Milan and Napoli as they aim to improve their respective attacking options.

GMS sources have been informed that Sancho is open to heading back to Borussia Dortmund for a third spell, having racked up 13 goal contributions over the course of his season-long loan spell away from Manchester United, but he has provided the German side with a significant stumbling block as he is not willing to take a pay cut.

Jadon Sancho's statistics for Chelsea this season

Chelsea paid a £5million penalty fee to send the 23-cap England international back to Old Trafford, after deciding they did not want to exercise their obligation to make him a permanent member of their squad, and that has resulted in the Red Devils being desperate to pinpoint potential landing spots.

Borussia Dortmund are interested in exploring a move for Sancho, GMS sources have learned, but they are waiting to discover whether there is any way around his salary situation before formally committing to a pursuit as they are not entertaining breaking their wage structure to meet his demands.

Red Devils May Cover Part of Sancho’s Salary

Influential figures remain determined to sell 25-year-old outcast

GMS sources have been told that Manchester United could be forced to subsidise part of Sancho’s wages in order to make a switch to Borussia Dortmund possible, but they have been trying to move away from doing that after seeing other high-profile names rediscover their best form elsewhere as they aim to reignite their career.

The Red Devils’ preference is to sell the 25-year-old, even though he has been described as ‘special’ by Enzo Maresca, and that has resulted in influential figures behind the scenes coming to terms with the fact that they may have to deviate from their initial plans to not continue covering any of his salary following a transfer.

Borussia Dortmund will have further scope to recruit Sancho if fellow wide attacker Jamie Gittens joins Chelsea after already verbally agreeing a contract worth in the region of £120,000-per-week, GMS sources understand, while Aston Villa are considering offering a fresh opportunity to prove his worth in the Premier League.
