‘I want to finish really well in this beautiful blue jersey’ – Olivier Giroud on his France retirement

In an interview with Téléfoot, Olivier Giroud (37) was asked about his retirement from international football and what will be a summer of change for the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker.

Following the conclusion of UEFA EURO 2024 or France’s exit from the competition, Giroud has confirmed that he will retire from international football. The France international has enjoyed a terrific spell with Les Bleus, winning a World Cup in 2018 and becoming the nation’s all-time top goalscorer. This summer is a season of change for the 37-year-old. In addition to retiring from France duty, the striker is set to swap Milan for LAFC and become the latest player to move to the MLS in the twilight of their career.

Although Giroud’s time in the blue jersey of France is almost at an end, the LAFC forward is determined to make the final chapter of his story with Les Bleus a memorable one. Commenting on EURO 2024, Giroud said, “It will be very emotional but I want to finish really well in this beautiful blue jersey.”
