Callum Hudson-Odoi has waived his €10 million per year salary at Chelsea in order to play on a season-long loan at Leverkusen. Per Sport Bild, the Bundesliga side are responsible for €4 million with Chelsea putting up €3 million more. The English club also have an option to end his loan in the winter transfer window.
There is no purchase option included in Hudson-Odoi’s contract, making the 21-year-old’s return to Chelsea likely within the next year. The opportunity for immediate playing time at a major European club is what got the deal over the line.
The English international was quickly thrusted into his new squad to face Freiburg last weekend where he recorded an assist. Hudson-Odoi also started in Leverkusen’s loss to Club Brugge in their Champions League match on Wednesday.
