As previously understood, Borussia Dortmund were able to agree on a further contract extension with exciting young winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. The new and improved contract means that the Englishman is tied down to a deal at the Westfalenstadion until the summer of 2028.
However, the contract extension was fairly surprising considering Bynoe-Gittens had only just signed a new deal with Dortmund the previous year. Nevertheless, as reported by Bild, due to sustained interest from the Premier League, BvB accelerated contract talks with the 19-year-old.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle are the three clubs that were supposedly tracking Bynoe-Gittens’ development prior to his extension. Therefore, the new deal means that Die Schwarzgelben can relax regarding the future of their talented youngster, whose original deal was set to end in 2025.
Nonetheless, it was not a deal that came cheap for Dortmund with Bynoe-Gittens’ annual salary increasing from €1m to €3m. Considering the teenager has been plagued by injuries during his time at the club, there is significant risk in the deal, but those in charge will be hoping that the winger’s development continues in a positive direction.
