Hertha Berlin’s Chidera Ejuke out for eight weeks

Hertha Berlin’s Chidera Ejuke will be missing for a minimum of eight weeks with a suspected knee ligament injury, according to Bild

The Nigerian international had to leave the team’s training camp in Florida early, and results show the injury is worse than first expected. The winger, who is on loan from CSKA Moscow, will most likely be missing until mid-March.

Though the 25-year-old is yet to score for Hertha, he has provided three assists and was beginning to settle in well to his new surroundings.

It’s a huge loss for Hertha who are currently fighting for survival. Their loss against fellow relegation rivals VfL Bochum only highlighted their issues last weekend. Hertha play VfL Wolfsburg on Tuesday, where Marco Richter is expected to fill in for the injured Ejuke.

The injury news may just propt Hertha into the transfer market as they seek an immediate replacement. The winter transfer window shuts in just over seven days time, meaning the club will have to act fast.
