Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was on Sunday night drawn on the possibility of the club dipping into the market, to source a replacement for Marc-André ter Stegen.
This, of course, comes after disaster struck for Barca’s no.1 yesterday evening.
En route to the Blaugrana’s 5-1 La Liga drubbing of Villarreal, Ter Stegen picked up what appeared to be a serious injury.
After landing awkwardly on his right foot late in the first-half at El Madrigal, the German international was quickly stretchered from the field of play, in evident distress.
Ensuing reports have pointed towards the 32-year-old as being in line for a lengthy spell on the sidelines as a result, with Ter Stegen’s season, potentially, now over.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the full-time whistle on Sunday night, it therefore came as little surprise when the name of his first-choice between the posts was put to the aforementioned Hansi Flick.
Specifically, Barcelona’s headmaster was asked whether he envisions the Catalans dipping into the free agent pool, to source a short-term replacement for Ter Stegen.
Flick, however, was in no mood to entertain such questions:
“Signing a replacement for Ter Stegen? I don’t like this question. Please understand that I am very sad right now and I don’t want to talk about this topic right now.”
