Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was on Tuesday afternoon full of praise for a leading member of his squad.
The player in question? Lamine Yamal.
Wide-man Lamine, for his part, is of course in the midst of nothing short of a superb start to the new campaign.
Across starts in Barcelona’s seven fixtures across all competitions, the 17-year-old has directly contributed to nine goals.
Eight such contributions have come in six La Liga appearances, across which Lamine has wreaked havoc on opposing backlines from his berth on the right flank.
Despite his tender years, the Barca youth product is quickly making a name for himself as not only one of world football’s best youngsters, but best players full stop.
Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday, the subject of Lamine’s place amongst the standout performers in the game at present was in turn put to manager Hansi Flick.
Asked specifically whether he considers the Spanish international as the ‘best player in the world’, Barcelona’s headmaster did not hesitate in responding:
“Is Lamine the best player in the world? Quality has nothing to do with age. Is he the best? He could be, without a doubt.”
