Club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has confirmed that a Bayern Munich delegation will travel to London for tomorrow’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
“We would, of course, be absolutely delighted if Harry Kane were to win the Ballon d’Or,” said a hopeful Dreesen speaking to TZMünchen.
“Harry sets new records year after year, but his 73 goals for FC Bayern and the England national team carry particular significance this time around.
“I like to call him our ‘360-degree striker’ because he always has the entire pitch in view, works tirelessly and makes his teammates better.
“He has continued to develop his game and, in doing so, has transformed our entire team’s style of play. He is a global superstar.
“But without any airs and graces, while also being a gentleman who sets an outstanding example both on and off the pitch,” he added.
Making sure not to discount their other hot favourite for the prestigious accolade, Hainer also tipped Michael Olise for future glory.
“Michael Olise also thoroughly deserves his place on the shortlist, and I am convinced that he, too, will win the Ballon d’Or one day.
“Overall, our many nominations are a wonderful recognition of a fantastic season. For the first time in ten years, four FC Bayern players are once again on the Ballon d’Or shortlist.
“On top of that, Vincent Kompany is recognised as one of the best coaches in the world, and for the first time, both our women’s and men’s teams have been nominated for Club of the Year.
“Naturally, we will travel to London with all due humility, hoping that we will also have the opportunity to celebrate a few awards,” Hainer concluded.
Should the 33-year-old sharp-shooter Kane pick up the award, he would become the first Bayern player to do so since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge back in 1981.
