Graham Potter favourite to become Nice manager

L’Équipe are reporting that Graham Potter, who has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in April, is the favourite to take over from Didier Digard at OGC Nice.

Les Aiglons have looked at many profiles, and finding unanimity at the club has been difficult. Different members of the club have their own ideas of the best man to take Nice forward after a difficult season, which saw Lucien Favre sacked mid-season, and which will ultimately result in a mid-table finish.

Jean-Claude Blanc, who retains his network from his time at Paris Saint-Germain, is interested in Thiago Motta. Les Parisiens are also interested. Sporting Director Florent Ghisolfi is interested in Franck Haise and Régis Le Bris. The former can’t be prised away from RC Lens this summer, whilst the latter is not favoured by the club’s INEOS ownership.

INEOS are more interested in Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, but given that the Seagulls have qualified for the Europa League, it is unthinkable that he would leave the club to join Le Gym.

However, there is unanimity over Potter, who is interested in taking the role. He is ready to work with the performance cell put in place by Ghisolfi, and meetings have already taken place, as previously revealed by Foot Mercato.

Sources contacted by Get French Football News have previously revealed that Dave Brailsford was pushing to bring Potter to the Allianz Riviera. However, with the club’s INEOS ownership currently occupied by the potential purchase of Manchester United, Nice aren’t closing in on the English manager currently.
