Borussia Dortmund’s Giovanni Reyna was set to join RB Leipzig on loan during the winter transfer window, according to the Leipziger Volkszeitung, who claims a full agreement was in place.
However, after Dortmund failed to sign Rayan Cherki from Olympique Lyon, the move fell through and Reyna stayed at BVB, the report claims.
RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose knows Reyna well, as the United States international was part of the Borussia Dortmund squad he coached in the 2021/22 season.
Given Leipzig’s struggles, it doesn’t currently look like Rose will still be in charge next season. As such, it seems unlikely that Leipzig will rekindle their interest in Reyna this summer.
Reyna has one year left on his current contract with BVB. He has mostly been used as a substitute this season, starting just three Bundesliga games.
