Gabri Veiga scored his ninth goal in La Liga to open the scoring in Celta Vigo’s match against Espanyol on Saturday.
The midfielder could be one of Luis de la Fuente’s options to replace the injured Pedri in the Spanish national team. Veiga, who was on the pre-list of the coach from La Rioja, has spoken about making the leap from the U21 level to the senior team.
He stressed that he is still managing his first year in the top flight “as calmly as possible”.
“It’s true that good things are happening, but you have to keep your feet on the ground as always and keep working every day because I still have a lot to improve to be an even better player,” he said in words transcribed by ElDesmarque.
On the option of replacing Pedri, who is injured, in the senior national team, he replied: “For me, it would be a dream. We have to keep working and luckily, I have a call-up with the U21s which I’m very excited about and we’re going to enjoy it”.
