Frankfurt agree deal to sign PSG midfielder

Subbed off in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over FC Schalke 04, the early prognosis for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe was not good. One day later, the SGE confirmed very bad news indeed. The Frenchman has suffered a syndemostic tear and is scheduled for major surgery on Monday. Given the nature of the injury, the 22-year-old will be out for at least 8-10 weeks.

Ebimbe debuted for Oliver Glasner’s Adlerträger in the current campaign’s fifth round, himself coming on for the injured Sebastian Rode. After immediately impressing in that fixture, the PSG midfielder became a regular in Glasner’s starting XI. Ebimbe scored two league goals and registered an assist in 11 league appearances. He also started in the Pokal and Champions’ League.

Ebimbe’s replacement, Portuguese right-back Aurelio Buta, also impressed off the bench in yesterday’s win. Dortmund loanee Ansgar Knauff can also fulfill the right-wingback role that Ebimbe was occupying. For these reasons, SGE sporting director Markus Krösche confirmed to German footballing magazine Kicker that the club would not be seeking a replacement for the injured player on Sunday.
