Fight fans are furious with Ronda Rousey after she put Joe Rogan on blast

Joe Rogan began working for the UFC back in 1997 as a backstage interviewer, later becoming a regular colour commentator for the promotion years down the line. Although the UFC have had two iconic voices as their main play-by-play commentators over the years in Mike Goldberg and Jon Anik, to many fans, Rogan is the voice of the UFC and is one of the few prominent figures in the company, alongside Dana White, who feels bigger than the promotion itself.

Although Rogan’s name value has been a huge asset to the UFC over the years, his understanding and extensive knowledge of all forms of the sport are genuinely great to listen to when watching fights, although, as is the case with most broadcasters, he, of course, gets his fair share of criticism. Most of Rogan’s criticism often comes from fans, however, he is now being heavily criticised by former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

During a recent appearance on Bert Kreischer’s podcast, Bertcast, Rousey was her usual outspoken self and launched scathing attacks on both Rogan for his alleged expertise in MMA, as well as MMA fans for being fake.

Ronda Rousey Went in on Joe Rogan and MMA Fans

Ronda Rousey after a UFC fight

Ever since Ronda Rousey lost her last UFC fight to Amanda Nunes back in 2016, she has more often than not spoken with quite a lot of resentment when the MMA fanbase and sport as a whole have popped up in conversation. These topics of conversation were brought up yet again during a recent appearance on the Bertcast, where she brutally went in on both the MMA fanbase, as well as UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

During her conversation with Bert Kreischer, who is a friend of Rogan’s, ‘Rowdy’ heavily played down his knowledge of the sport of MMA, branding him as nothing more than “a fan with an audience.”

See what Rousey had to say in the clip below:

When Kreischer brought up Rogan’s experience in taekwondo, she immediately dismissed it and claimed that it is not an actual form of fighting, so, therefore, he is not an expert. He is, though, also a high-level Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt.

“That’s sad to see,” one fan said. “He loves her, and defends her all the time.” Another commented: “She wonders why people don’t like her.” A third fan finished: “Her and Jon Jones have the worst personalities in all of combat sports. Like they’re both just so damn unlikeable.”

If Rousey’s brutal comments regarding Rogan weren’t enough to rile up the MMA community, later on in the podcast, she also went in on MMA fans, essentially branding them fake. Rousey spoke about her relationship with the fanbase and talked about how they seemed to turn on her as soon as she took her first loss, and she compared her situation to how MMA fans would potentially react if Khabib Nurmagomedov ever lost before retiring.

“I think the only reason why MMA fans have their lips so firmly planted at the base of Khabib’s c*** is because he retired before he reached his limit. If he kept fighting until he reached his limit, everybody would (say), ‘Khabib ain’t s***, he never was s***.'”

Although MMA fans have probably been harsh in their reaction to Rousey’s downfall, her latest comments certainly wouldn’t have helped mend any broken fences.
