Fermin Lopez fears growing at Barcelona, entourage want Chelsea move

Barcelona will be busy during the final three days of the summer transfer window, and one situation to deal with involves Fermin Lopez. Chelsea are pushing hard to sign the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, having missed out on ex-La Masia star Xavi Simons to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea stepped up their pursuit of Fermin earlier this week, having submitted an opening offer to Barcelona. That was turned down, with the Catalans, who want to retain the services of the Spain international, asking for €90m to sell at this late stage of the summer.

Barcelona do not want to sell Fermin at all, but if he asks to leave, they will be open to a deal with Chelsea – but only on their terms. His exit would solve their registration woes, and it would also open the door to a possible late signing.

Fermin wants to stay at Barcelona – but that could change

As per MD, Fermin – who is expected to make a public statement discussing his future in the very near future – does not currently want to leave Barcelona, although it is reporting that people close to him are hoping that he does join Chelsea, as the economic and sporting conditions are said to be very attractive.

Meanwhile, it is reported by Sport that Barcelona are growing concerned about the lack of clarity on the situation. There are less than 72 hours to go until the summer transfer window closes, and yet no one within the club definitively knows whether Fermin will be staying or going.

For now, it remains to be seen how the situation with Fermin plays out. He is currently a Barcelona player, but by Tuesday, he could very well end up at Stamford Bridge in the colours of Chelsea, although that is something that is still to be clarified.
