Liverpool could be on the lookout for a new left-back in the summer, and they may have already found their preferred target.
Arne Slot is happy with the Reds squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp, but the club are constantly looking to find top players who can add more quality.
While the primary focus for Liverpool lies in securing contracts for Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, they are also looking to upgrade the left-back position next summer.
Liverpool have Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas as two brilliant left full-backs, but they feel that it is time to ship out one of them and bring in a young talent.
The Reds are looking to sign Milos Kerkez
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are looking to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
The 21-year-old has been impressive for the Cherries, and he is also being tracked by Manchester United, among several other Premier League clubs.
However, the Hungarian defender is not at the top of United’s list at the moment, which means there is a good opportunity for Liverpool to sign him next summer.
The Sunday Mirror described Kerkez as ‘outstanding’ earlier this month, and they reported that it would take around £50 million to sign him.
The highly-rated left-back joined the Cherries in July last year for £15m and is seen as one of the club’s best signings.
Milos Kerkez could be a cracking signing for Liverpool
Liverpool are more than keen to land him, and he would be a terrific addition to the side.
He averages 1.5 tackles, 2.2 clearances, 4.3 ball recoveries and 1.1 clearances in the Premier League this season. He has also registered two assists.
If Kerkez joins Liverpool, it could pave the way for Robertson’s exit. The Scottish defender has been outstanding for the club over the years, but he has made several mistakes this season.
The 30-year-old has a contract at Anfield until 2026, and the summer transfer window presents the best opportunity to cash in on him.
