Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has made direct contact with Chelsea star Conor Gallagher.
That’s according to English transfer insider Ben Jacobs, who has provided an insight into the latest developments in the Gallagher-Atlético saga.
The midfielder’s transfer was expected to be completed by now, only for the last-minute collapse of Samu Omorodion’s move in the opposite direction to leave Gallagher essentially stranded in Madrid.
He has since flown back to west London, as Chelsea and Atlético work towards fresh deals for the England international, and João Félix.
And, in the midst of as much, the former have made clear that they will not wait forever for a successful outcome.
As per the aforementioned Ben Jacobs:
‘Atlético Madrid have put a deadline of Wednesday next week to try and resolve the Conor Gallagher situation.’
It is also noted that Diego Simeone is doing his part to ensure that the player himself remains calm, having this week made phone contact with Gallagher, ‘to reassure him that he’s still a priority’.
