Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone earns a monthly salary of €3.33m, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The Argentine is the highest paid manager in club football, taking home almost exactly the same amount as Pep Guardiola (€1.89m) and Jürgen Klopp (€1.49m) combined.
The Atlético boss earns over three times the amount that Carlo Ancelotti earns at Real Madrid. Ancelotti earns a reported €910,000 per month, according to a report published by L’Equipe.
The Italian is tied to Los Blancos until 2024 and said in an interview recently that he is likely to retire when he eventually leaves the Spanish giants. Simeone’s contract at Atlético also runs until 2024 and many believe he will leave on his own terms.
In each of Simeone’s 10 full seasons in charge, Atlético have never finished lower than third in La Liga.
The two managers go head to head in tonight’s Madrid derby. In 36 matches against Real Madrid in all competitions, Simeone has won 10, drawn 11 and lost 15.
