Departing Real Madrid star Luka Modrić is inching towards a high-profile move to Major League Soccer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the situation.
The name of veteran midfielder Modrić has of course taken its place centre stage across world football over the course of the last 24 hours.
This comes after Real Madrid made official their decision not to offer the Croatian international a new contract with the club.
Modrić, as a result, will be available as a free agent once Los Blancos’ adventure at the upcoming Club World Cup comes to a close.
And if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, one club already appear to have positioned themselves as the clear frontrunners to bring the 39-year-old in.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘Luka Modrić is set to join Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.’
Inter president David Beckham is understood to have been pursing the Ballon d’Or winner for some time now, with the ‘expectation’ being that Modrić will join forces with the likes of Messi and Luis Suárez on a one-year deal this summer.
