David Raum sends warning to Juventus

RB Leipzig’s David Raum has sent a warning to Juventus ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Juventus. After their 4-0 win against Augsburg at the weekend, confidence is high at Die Roten Bullen and hosting Juve, the 26-year-old will be hoping to take recent performances into their game against the Italian side.

The Saxony club exited the Champions League at the Round of 16 stage in the last two season’s, losing against eventual champions both times: Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Now playing at home, Raum believes that hearing the Champions League anthem will spur the players, and fans on.

“I have a lot of respect for the club but they will come to our stadium first, that will be uncomfortable for them,” said Raum.

“All of our boys have incredible talent. If you get their heads in the right direction and get them honed so that they really – in plain English – go into the game with such balls. Then you see what happens.

“We have to keep at it now and soak it all up. We will prepare well for it and then we want to set off fireworks at home in the Champions League, when the anthem is played.”

Leipzig have a strong record against Italian teams: two wins, one draw and one defeat.

“I’m happy that we’re playing against such opponents,” added Raum. “Against real men’s teams and dirtbag teams. Italian teams are known for this. Juve has a certain rustic style, but still have top individual stars in attack.”
