Chelsea are trying to hijack Paris Saint-Germain’s Nordi Mukiele transfer, according to reports.
The Blues looked close to signing Jules Kounde after they agreed a £55 million deal with Sevilla. However, Barcelona are now on the verge of hijacking their move for the French footballer.
Chelsea have now turned their attention to Nordi Mukiele and are trying to hijack PSG’s move for him, according to Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna.
They are even ready to offer Timo Werner in order to get a deal for the 24-year-old.
A move is still possible
Chelsea were expected to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title last season. However, their levels dropped during the second-half of the season and they ultimately finished third in the table, trailing 18 points behind second-placed Liverpool.
They will be aiming to do better this year but have already seen the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen while Romelu Lukaku has returned to Inter Milan on a season long loan.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have brought in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly but they still look in need of reinforcements in defence.
With Jules Kounde seemingly close to Barcelona move, Chelsea are now looking to sign Nordi Mukiele.
The 24-year-old has been on the books of RB Leipzig since 2018 and has made over 140 appearances across all competitions so far.
Last season, he clocked up 28 Bundesliga appearances, averaging 1.3 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 1.5 clearances per game.
PSG have reportedly agreed a transfer fee with the Red Bulls. But the German club wants to reinforce their attack this summer and Chelsea willing to include Werner in the deal could see Leipzig go for the player over the money.
