Nicolas Jackson to Chelsea has been on the cards for a while now, and Fabrizio Romano reports that an agreement between Chelsea and Villarreal has been reached.
As we reported yesterday, the deal was facing a problem, with Villarreal wanting the €35m paid as one lump sum in cash, and Chelsea not keen on these terms. An agreement has however been reached, which is that Chelsea are paying €1-2 million over Jackson’s release clause. By doing so, Villarreal have accepted that the fee will be paid in installments.
Chelsea have a wealth of youth in their squad, and they will be adding to that with their new signing. Jackson is 22 and has only played 92 senior club games in his career. His potential is there for all to see, however, having scored 12 goals in only 16 league starts last season. The English side will be hoping that he can bring an injection of goals to their lacklustre frontline.
