In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Chelsea are pushing the most to recruit Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele. It is believed that the Blues could face competition in the form of Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of the French wing wizard this summer.

Dembele’s Impressive Run Of Form At The Nou Camp Last Season

Dembele had a decent campaign with the Catalan giants as he managed to produce a run of influential displays for them in the final third. The French sensation found the back of the net twice and grabbed 13 assists in 32 appearances for Barca last season across all fronts.

The 25-year-old performed well to average 2.2 shots, 2.1 key passes and 2.8 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga football. He was even accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 84.4% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via whoscored).

What Will Dembele Bring To Chelsea?

Dembele has got the pace to make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the wide areas. He can engineer some clear-cut chances for his teammates in the final third and has done really well to chip in with his fair share of assists in the previous campaign.

However, the France international needs to improve his finishing in front of the opposition’s goal if he wants to establish himself as a top performer at the highest level. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-winger if his manager needs him to do so.

We can expect Dembele to bring more pace and creativity to Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel’s frontline if the Blues can find a way to get a deal done for him in this off-season.

At 25, the French talent will only get better in the coming seasons, so the West London outfit can make the most out of his services if the player can remain injury-free over the next few years. However, only time will tell whether Dembele can cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football.
