Celtic’s Giorgos Giakoumakis agrees terms with Serie A side Sampdoria

Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis has given his approval regarding a move to Sampdoria in the ongoing January transfer window.

The Greek striker has been linked with a move to Samp in the last few days, with Dejan Stankovic looking to sign a striker in an attempt to replace Francesco Caputo, who has already joined Empoli in an initial loan deal.

Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Samp have received an approval from Giakoumakis regarding the move, with the striker agreeing to join the Luigi Ferraris-based outfit. Samp are looking to sign him on an initial loan deal with the option to buy him permanently in the summer but it will become an obligation if certain conditions are met.

Celtic are yet to receive or accept any offers from Samp and other clubs are also interested in the Greek star. Urawa Reds are also interested but Giakoumakis wants to stay in Europe and that is why Samp are well ahead in the chase for the player.
