Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid picked up a huge penalty shootout win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League and that sees the Italian create new history against Citizens boss Pep Guardiola.
In what was an incredible defensive performance, Real came out on top in the penalty shootouts and progressed to the semi-finals of the competition once again, denying City the chance to win another treble this season.
But Ancelotti has now knocked out Guardiola three times in his career, having done that before in 2022 and 2014 and it happened both the times in the semi-finals. In 2014, it was during his previous stint at Real Madrid, when Guardiola was in-charge of Bayern Munich.
No one has eliminated more times in his career than Ancelotti and the last two times he eliminated a Guardiola side, the Italian has gone on to win the Champions League. It now remains to be seen how this season pans out.
