Serhou Guirassy’s brace against Azerbaijan side Sabah FK secured Borussia Dortmund a 2-1 victory, ending a run of three defeats across all competitions.
Speaking to DAZN post-match, BVB custodian Gregor Kobel praised his Guinean teammate. “Serhou is a machine, and I don’t really have to say much more,” he expressed.
Guirassy, though, challenged his teammates, and himself, to maintain high standards. “We’re top players, so we have to work on that – myself included,” the forward explained.
The 30-year-old’s brace brought an end to Dortmund’s winless run having played out 2-2 and 0-0 draws against Werder Bremen and Union Berlin in the Bundesliga, either side of a 1-0 loss against Bodø/Glimt.
After successive Bundesliga draws, Dortmund will hope to secure a return to winning ways when they host Eintracht Frankfurt on 24 October before welcoming Bremen back to the Westfalenstadion three days later in the DFB Pokal, before Matchday 8’s Klassiker against Bayern Munich.
