Borussia Dortmund won’t take any unnecessary risks with Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund won’t take any chances with Jadon Sancho’s injury after the Englishman sat out of the club’s 0-0 draw against Heidenheim on Friday night.

Speaking ahead of the Bundesliga clash, Edin Terzić confirmed that Sancho has picked up an injury: “Jadon currently has muscular problems in the adductor area, which is not surprising after a long break.”

And now Kicker report that Borussia Dortmund won’t take any unnecessary chances when it comes to bringing Sancho back into the squad. Although they need the 23-year-old’s quality in the final third, BVB don’t want to take the risk of a longer absence, which is entirely possible with a muscular injury.

Not only that, Sancho himself has no interest in being rushed back, as he wants to play in order to find a permanent move away from Manchester United in the summer, which is only possible through regular appearances and convincing performances. Something he can’t do if sidelined.

Jadon Sancho has impressed on his Borussia Dortmund return

Although not match fit upon his return to Borussia Dortmund last month, Sancho played 35 minutes against Darmstadt and recorded an assist. The following matchday, the Englishman was named in the starting line-up against Köln, playing 66 minutes and also creating another goal.

Sancho then played 83 minutes against Bochum but in the days that followed, the player’s adductor muscles reacted, which forced the 23-year-old to sit out of training, and Dortmund’s game against Heidenheim.

Die Schwarzgelben will continue to monitor Sancho’s fitness and there’s hope that he could make the squad against Freiburg, but they won’t make any irrational decisions with his current injury.
