Borussia Dortmund eager to swoop on PSG prospect

Joane Gadou (17) has yet to sign a professional contract with Paris Saint-Germain but has already caught the eyes of multiple clubs across Europe, including Borussia Dortmund.

The 6ft4 centre-back has not been capped for PSG despite hovering around the first-team squad, even making the bench for the club’s Ligue 1 and Champions League fixtures during a recent injury crisis at the start of March

According to RMC Sport, PSG have already provided Gadou with a first offer to turn professional, a contract that the player and his relatives are currently studying. The problem that appears to be delaying him from signing on the dotted line is the issue of playing time.

Les Parisiens have dedicated themselves to a project which will give more time for promising players but they have a log jam at centre-back. Already the club boasts Marquinhos, Milan Škriniar, Danilo Pereira, Lucas Hernandez, Lucas Beraldo, Presnel Kimpembe, and Nordi Mukiele.

It was quite an incredible feat that PSG had enough injuries at the position for Gadou to become an option, and perhaps telling that even though at one stage they had only Beraldo and Hernandez fully fit, Gadou remained on the bench.

Some of those players might leave in the summer, but it’s expected that PSG will recruit further in that position, with Leny Yoro (18) a key target, despite Real Madrid leading the race

Borussia Dortmund waiting in the wings

If Gadou decided to spurn the chance to become a professional at PSG, he would have no shortage of options with RMC Sport claiming that Dortmund are closely monitoring his situation. A club that has created a reputation for providing young talent their time on the pitch.
