VfL Bochum striker Moritz Broschinski and sporting director Marc Lettau criticized the officiating after Sunday’s defeat at Freiburg.

VfL Bochum striker Moritz Broschinski was frustrated with referee Marco Fritz after Sunday’s 1-2 defeat at Freiburg.
The 23-year-old felt Bochum should have been awarded a penalty after he went down in the box following a challenge from Matthias Ginter.
“For me it’s a clear penalty. The arm is around my neck and the arm has no right to be there. There can’t be two opinions on that,” he said in a post-match interview.
“And the worst thing that upsets me even more is that the referee didn’t even look at it. I say 100 percent: If he looks at it, it’s a penalty,” Broschinski continued.
Bochum’s sporting director Marc Lettau expressed similar thoughts.
“That’s a clear foul. It has to be a penalty. The VAR has to intervene when he’s in the penalty area,” he said.
