Germany internationals and former Bundesliga figures played big roles for their clubs at the start of matchday 4 in the UEFA Champions League.

On the night FC Bayern and VfB Stuttgart recorded contrasting results away from home, Yann Aurel Bisseck and Matheus Cunha played big roles for their respective clubs. Meanwhile, Hansi Flick’s FC Barcelona and leaders PSG recorded comfortable wins over former Europa League champions.
Ex-RB Leipzig and Hertha BSC attacker Cunha stole the headlines with his late brace to leapfrog Manchester United from dismay against AS Roma. The Serie A outfit further dampened the mood at Old Trafford when they scored twice in the first 20 minutes as Donyell Malen became the tenth player to score four goals in this season’s competition.
However, Michael Carrick’s men suddenly found their rhythm again thanks to Cunha’s legendary performance that ended in a red card due to an adrenaline rash. It was also a memorable day in the young career of the Germany international Bisseck.
The center-back scored the opening goal with a brilliant strike as Inter recovered from a derby defeat with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Feyenoord. The 25-year-old finally got his first Champions League strike in his 27th appearance.
Meanwhile, Flick, who won the competition with FC Bayern, guided Barcelona to a 3-0 win against Aston Villa, who had a perfect record before visiting Camp Nou. The defending champions PSG were victorious against Barcelona in the last matchday, and they continued their winning start with an impressive 6-0 scoreline away at Villarreal.
Liverpool, Real Madrid and Real Betis have a chance to match PSG’s record tomorrow, with the latter facing a Bundesliga challenge against Borussia Dortmund. RB Leipzig will host Manchester City in the other game involving a German team.
At the other end of the table, Slovan Bratislava’s difficult campaign continued as Yaya Toure’s men lost 4-0 at LASK. Porto, who have the only perfect record in European domestic leagues, will hope to end their Champions League misery when they host Napoli.
