
The lineups are out for Friday’s late fixture of the Club World Cup between two footballing giants.
As expected, Vincent Kompany brings back Konrad Laimer and Leon Goretzka to the starting lineup. Jamal Musiala’s hat-trick wasn’t enough to win him a place, while Thomas Müller will also start the match on the bench. The surprising move is Serge Gnabry’s inclusion in a decision that could see Michael Olise play in the attacking midfield role.
Miguel Ángel Russo had to replace Ander Herrera and Nicolás Figal after both players saw red cards in the 2-2 draw with Benfica. Lautaro Di Lollo and Tomás Belmonte are their replacements.
Earlier today, Benfica scored six past Auckland City in a match interrupted for hours because of adverse weather. Bayern will advance from the group stage if they defeat their opponents from Argentina. South American teams are yet to be defeated in the tournament as Flamengo became the first team to make it into the Round of 16.
