As reported by Kerry Hau of Sport1, Bayern Munich planned to finish the current season with Julian Nagelsmann but were forced into action when other clubs showed interest in Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel has been a topic of Bayern for several years and depending on Nagelsmann’s results between now and the end of the season, only they would look into the idea of appointing Tuchel.
But because PSG had been in discussions with Tuchel about a potential return as well as interest from Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich decided to act immediately to avoid missing out.
According to Hau, Bayern’s hierarchy want a new impetus and trust Tuchel, who is expected to sign a contract until 2025. Tuchel will be tasked with winning the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League.
Despite suggestions, Nagelsmann hasn’t lost the dressing room with several players unprepared of the situation over the last 24 hours. Nagelsmann still has advocates in the Bayern Munich squad, such as Joshua Kimmich, but his failure to develop talent is one reason behind his dismissal.
