La Liga giants Barcelona are all set to add a new option to the club’s ranks between the posts.
That’s according to Jose Alvarez Haya of El Chiringuito TV, who points towards Wojciech Szczęsny as the player in question.
The name of goalkeeper Szczęsny has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of recent days.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the Polish international had been identified as Barcelona’s no.1 target to replace Marc-André ter Stegen, after the Blaugrana’s long-time no.1 was condemned to a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Szczęsny for his part called time on his playing career over the summer, after a mutual agreement was reached to terminate his contract with Italian heavyweights Juventus.
The Camp Nou brass, though, early this week set about convincing the Pole of the merits of coming out of retirement.
And, if the latest word on the subject to have surfaced on Wednesday is anything to go by, then it would appear that such endeavours have borne fruit.
As per the aforementioned Jose Alvarez Haya:
”Szczęsny has said yes to Barca. Next week he will be a Barcelona player.”
