AS Monaco in advanced talks to sign Georges Mikautadze

According to RMC Sport and Foot Mercato, AS Monaco are in talks to sign Georges Mikautadze (23), currently on loan at FC Metz from Ajax.

It has been a season of two halves for Mikautadze who was a peripheral figure at Ajax, having made the move from Metz to the Netherlands in late August. However, since returning to Les Grenats, the Georgian international has thrived. With 13 goals in Ligue 1, ten more than Metz’s next top-scorer, Mikautadze has almost single-handedly given the club a shot at safety. Laszlo Bölöni’s side are set to compete in the relegation play-off tie later this month.

RMC Sports understands that Monaco are in advanced discussions with the player. The Principality club must then negotiate with Ajax in order to reach an agreement. The Georgian is the priority to replace Wissam Ben Yedder, who is expected to leave upon the expiry of his contract this summer.

Foot Mercato add that the value of the deal is between €15-20m. Les Monégasques may face competition for Ligue 1 rivals, whilst Premier League sides are also interested in Mikautadze.
