As reported by Sport, Atlético Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has demanded that UEFA improve their standards after France were denied a winner against Greece on Tuesday evening.
After coming back from behind to make it 2-2, France had thought they had found a winner through Kingsley Coman. His shot hit both posts and bounced over the goal line, but the referee decided that the ball had not fully crossed the line and didn’t award the goal.
Furthermore, VAR failed to intervene despite it being a clear and obvious error from the referee. Griezmann played the entire match, while Barcelona’s Jules Koundé played for 64 minutes.
At the end of the match, the 32-year-old Atlético Madrid player expressed his frustration at the non-existence of the goal-line technology in this encounter.
He said: The goal-line technology failed! UEFA has a lot of money and can’t they get it right so that we know if there is a goal or not?
“We have to ask a little more from UEFA. If they want us to play a lot of matches, we should ask them for more technology.”
