Marseille will make the trip to Madrid on Monday afternoon ahead of their UEFA Champions League opener against Real Madrid on Tuesday (21:00 CET), with striker Amine Gouiri making the journey despite a knock suffered against Lorient – according to a report from L’Équipe.
Gouiri was forced off during Friday’s 4-0 Ligue 1 win over Lorient following a clash with Bamo Meïté but is fit enough to travel with the squad. Leonardo Balerdi, who returned from international duty, will also be managed carefully due to foot discomfort, but the centre-back is expected to start as captain.
The squad will not train in Spain ahead of the match; their final session is scheduled at La Commanderie before departing for the airport. Defensively, Benjamin Pavard, Nayef Aguerd, and Facundo Medina impressed against Lorient and are likely to start, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will look to lead the line in place of Gouiri.
