Ajax in pole position to sign Liverpool goalkeeper on loan

Ajax are reportedly leading the race to sign Liverpool goalkeeper Viteslav Jaros on loan this summer.

Several clubs have expressed an interest in the 23-year-old, but The Athletic claims Ajax are in pole position to secure his services.

Johnny Heitinga was part of Arne Slot’s backroom staff as the Reds clinched the 2024-25 Premier League title.

The former Netherlands international has recently agreed to become the new Ajax manager after Francesco Farioli resigned.

Heitinga knows the goalkeeper well from his time at Anfield and hopes to bring him to Amsterdam.

Jaros has been on Liverpool’s books for several years but has made only two senior appearances.

The Czech footballer played a crucial role in their victory against Crystal Palace in October, when he replaced Alisson Becker as a late substitute.

The Reds have sold Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentford, but they are not short of goalkeepers.

Giorgi Mamardashvili will arrive from Valencia after the Merseyside outfit agreed a deal for him last summer.

They have also signed Armin Pecsi from Puskas Akademia, with the youngster set to compete with Harvey Davies as back-up.

Liverpool have already acquired Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and reached a verbal agreement to sign his teammate over Florian Wirtz.
