Adi Hütter hails ‘one of the biggest victories’ of his Monaco reign

Adi Hütter has described AS Monaco’s victory over OGC Nice (3-2) in Sunday’s Côte d’Azur derby as “one of the biggest” of the season.

Pressure had been building on Hütter after a string of poor results saw the Principality club drop out of the UEFA Champions League places and also crash out of the Coupe de France against National 1 opposition in midweek. “When the goals are high, when we are too far away from them, criticism is coming. That’s normal; it’s part of the job,” reacted the Austrian in a post-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News.

Rybolovlev once again present

The victory not only sees Monaco regain their place on the podium, it also takes them to within just one point of second-placed Nice. “It is one of the biggest victories of the season, why? Because we were under pressure. If you lose it, you’re seven points behind. In this situation, under pressure, in a derby, it is one of the biggest victories of the season,” said Hütter.

Monaco’s season is back on track and the pressure is now relieved on Hütter, who revealed the delight of owner Dmitry Rybolovlev post-match. “He was really, really happy. He was in Rouen, and we had a good meeting after the game. He supported us here too. He was very happy with this victory. He is always with us and supports us. I felt he was really happy,” said Hütter.
