Abendzeitung reports that a contract extension for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané is currently unlikely, meaning he could leave in the summer.
Sané’s current contract at Bayern expires in the summer, but due to his lack of consistency since returning to Germany in 2020, it does not work well in his favour over a new deal. This would also mean that from January he is free to speak to clubs from aboard over a free transfer.
Sané had struggled in the opening parts of this season as he recovered from an injury he picked up at EURO 2024 with Germany.
The 28-year-old is not the only player whose days at Säberner Straße are numbered. It is widely known that Leon Goretzka can leave the club while Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman are also said to be on the chopping block with one of them likely to leave the club in the summer.
The departure of these players, who are all on high wages, would help finance a rebuild for Bayern and most importantly help them in their pursuit of Florian Wirtz, who will likely cost north of €100m.
