According to Sacha Tavolieri, KRC Genk are interested in Félix Lemaréchal (20), who is currently on loan at Cercle Brugge from AS Monaco.
Lemaréchal has struggled to break into the first team at Monaco, despite captaining the club’s youth side. After a short loan spell at Stade Brestois during the second half of last season, the midfielder impressed the club with his level in training, even if he struggled for game time amidst Brest’s attempts to ensure their safety in Ligue 1.
With the arrival of Denis Zakaria at Monaco, it became clear that Lemaréchal would struggle to break into the first team and as a result, a move to the Principality club’s satellite side, Cercle Brugge, followed. The France youth international has been impressive in midfield, making 26 appearances for the Belgian side.
Tavolieri now reports that Lemaréchal could remain in Belgium. KRC Genk view the France youth international as a potential replacement for Bilal El Khannouss, who may join RB Leipzig, where he would replace Xavi Simons, who is expected to return to parent club Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.
